Living place
Chaired by sculptural staircase
Dúplex in Lleida
Brief
Distribution and design on plans of a duplex in the city of Lleida: to take complete charge of the project and work.
Solution
Faced with the characteristics of a complicated space due to the angles and sharp edges of the plot, we designed a sculptural staircase placed in the centre, optically separating the living and dining room, leaving both spaces intercommunicated next to the kitchen. Conditioned by the living room area, which is bigger and looks onto La Seu Vella, we chose the direction of the rising staircase to give the dining room an airier feel. Following the taste of our clients, who had expressed a desire that wood is the material that took protagonism in the house, we designed a continuous wall of oak that we divided with a photograph of the family framed in a beam of light. In the kitchen, given the angles that marked out space, we gave priority to the flow with the dining room by designing a wall of columns, store cupboards and fridge and we established the water and cooking areas in the most irregular space. In the Master bedroom, we also went with wood, in line with our client's taste, and the main bathroom was designed to give a sensation of spaciousness with a large shower. So, we designed it closed to maintain intimacy but communicating directly with the dressing room open on both sides with wardrobes. On the upstairs floor, we came up with the idea of a multi-use area. A relaxing space with a chill-out zone, an office and a small bathroom.
